Our Building Bridges Training Program provides:
- Trainings and resources for schools and other community organizations across NC on issues of sexual orientation, gender identity, and school safety.
- Consulting services for schools and community organizations working to make schools safer for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people or those who are perceived to be.
The Building Bridges Training Program provides customized trainings that cover issues important to individual schools or organizations. We understand that NC is a very diverse state and schools and organizations may have very different needs. Therefore, we meet with each client and perform needs assessments prior to each training so that we are sure to adequately cover the topics and issues important to them. Possible topic areas for our programs include:
- the law and protecting LGBT students
- reviewing school harassment policies for inclusiveness
- addressing parental concerns
- discussing the topic with students
- counseling issues related to LGBT students
- developing practical classroom strategies to address the safety of LGBT students
